Designate public transport staff as key workers.

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

The government should designate public transport staff as key workers, recognising the amazing work they do in keeping the country moving, especially in tough times like these.
Public transport staff are the backbone of our country, keeping us connected. In these extraordinary times, public transport staff are keeping the country moving, getting medical and emergency workers to work to keep us safe, getting retail workers to work to feed the nation.

For public transport to not be designated as "key workers" is an insult to the thousands of people working extremely hard to keep the country moving in these extraordinarily tough times.

Why it was rejected

The UK Government or Parliament was already taking the action it asked for.

Since you started this petition, the Government has published guidance for schools on maintaining educational provision, including which sectors it considers key to the COVID-19 response.
