Financial support for driving instructors due to the Coronavirus outbreak

Rejected 17 signatures

What the petition asks

UK driving instructors are self employed and we will need immediate financial support to be available to help our businesses survive and support our lives during the outbreak.
There are over 40000 driving instructors across the UK, all self employed.
They will face considerable financial hardship due to self isolating, multiple cancellations and substantially reduced working hours due to the advice given by the government regarding the coronavirus outbreak. Some driving schools are already struggling.
This should include the covering of wages for as long as needed amongst other measures.
All other industry staff will get paid including DVSA staff, but we will not.

Why it was rejected

The UK Government or Parliament was already taking the action it asked for.

Since this petition was started, the Government has said that most self-employed people can claim a taxable grant worth 80% of their trading profits up to a maximum of £2,500 per month for the next 3 months.
