What the petition asks
Reinstate and backdate bursary for student nurses. Cohort 17 has suffered the loss of funding leaving them with a mountain of debt and now a delayed degree due to Corona virus, causing many uncertainties and further financial hardship.
Cohort 17 nursing students were the first without the NHS bursary, leaving many students with debts between £28,000-70,000. The same student nurses that the Government are looking to add to the temporary register in light of Covid 19. The same student nurses whose degree is now likely to be delayed. Whether these student nurses are able to respond to assist or not and join the temporary register, all will be affected and potentially suffer from the consequences.
