Students should not pay university accommodation fees due to closures

What the petition asks
Universities have closed due to the pandemic. Students are burdened with the payment of accommodation although their university is closed and they will most likely be travelling back home for the rest of the year. Exams and placements have also been cancelled.
Why should they have to finance for 15 weeks of accommodation? Contracts should be terminated for the remainder of the year in the light of the ongoing situation. They have the means to claim like other businesses are but are not, instead taking advantages of students stuck in a contract regardless of the international pandemic.
Help students across the country if they decide they want to return home - avoiding all unnecessary costs and being able to spend their loan on what they really need.
