What the petition asks

Smaller charities plug the gaps left by larger charities and UK Governments. More than ever, charities need the Government to support their work or we risk re-opening the gaps they plugged, when the coronavirus is behind us. We need to keep their essential work going or risk losing it for ever.

This petition calls on the Government to urgently and immediately provide a financial grant to small and medium sized charities
• There are over 150,000 charities and voluntary organisations raising less than £5 million in the UK
• 98% of all research charities/voluntary organisations raise less than £5 million
• 41% of UK medical research is funded by charities OR for rarer and complex medical conditions, like brain tumours, the charity/voluntary sector funds nearly 90% of national research

Why it was rejected

The UK Government or Parliament was already taking the action it asked for.

Since you started your petition the Government has announced a £750 million package of support for charities, including grants for smaller charities.
