What the petition asks

Pay self employed 80% of monthly wages based on their tax returns. Take previous year’s earnings, divide that figure by 12 to work out what they would earn monthly and pay 80% of this figure per month.

The self-employed make up 15% of UK's workforce. As well as agreeing to offer sick pay I want the Government to give equal rights to those who are on the PAYE system. Excluding us means the Government are running the risk of said people continuing work and in turn spreading the virus.
This is particularly important to those self employed who have dependents and who have children to care for while off school.

Why it was rejected

The UK Government or Parliament was already taking the action it asked for.

Since this petition was started, the Government has said that most self-employed people can claim a taxable grant worth 80% of their trading profits up to a maximum of £2,500 per month for the next 3 months.
