What the petition asks

Today, more measures were announced to help the public during this Coronavirus Pandemic. The self employed, however, are still largely overlooked. They should be provided a grant package similar to those employed by companies - 80% of earnings up to £2500 per month - or similar.

We make up 15% of the workforce, and are not all low wage earners who can survive off of welfare. Many self-employed people support their families, and pay their mortgages with their income, and their outgoings are in the £1000’s per month.

Please do the right thing, and show the self-employed that you care for and will look after us as well. We’re in this together.

Why it was rejected

The UK Government or Parliament was already taking the action it asked for.

Since this petition was started, the Government has said that most self-employed people can claim a taxable grant worth 80% of their trading profits up to a maximum of £2,500 per month for the next 3 months.
