Freeze Credit Reports & Scores during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Rejected 10 signatures

What the petition asks

Freeze all credit reports and credit scores during the COVID-19 outbreak to further protect family’s ability to continue normal life after it has been resolved. Many people before this were saving for houses etc which may now be affected due to changes to their report during this outbreak.
If we do not freeze credit reports and credit scores. Many people will face extreme difficulties after this outbreak is over and may be set back by years on previous plans such as buying a house.

Without this I feel that we could come out the other end of this as a ‘credit crippled’ country. Leaving people unable to buy new cars, take out new contracts, new leases on land and property or even get on the property ladder.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

The preparation and scoring of credit reports is a matter for individual credit reference agencies in cooperation with lenders, not the Government or Parliament. The UK's three credit reference agencies have all issued statements and advice about what people should do if they are facing financial difficulties as a result of the outbreak. You could start a new petition calling on the Government to encourage credit reference agencies to show consideration to any negative transactions that have occurred during the coronavirus outbreak.
