What the petition asks

I want the government to give assistance for self employed people, by granting us 80% of our net profit (up to £2,500 per month).

Please announce measures to help us now.

Around 15% of the UK workforce is self employed.
Government assistance for employed people during COVID19 is up to £2,500 per month.

For the self employed, it is only £376 per month. Like those on PAYE, the self employed have contributed NI and tax over the years. Right now, it feels like the government does not care about us.

Why it was rejected

The UK Government or Parliament was already taking the action it asked for.

Since this petition was started, the Government has said that most self-employed people can claim a taxable grant worth 80% of their trading profits up to a maximum of £2,500 per month for the next 3 months.
