Petition · past parliament

Allow fishing on rivers during the close season from now until the 15/06/2020.

Rejected 20 signatures

What the petition asks

This should be an immediate relaxation of the coarse fishing close season on all uk rivers.
To enable fishing on all rivers to help with social distancing and encourage people to get outside in relative isolation during these exceptional times.

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Since you started this petition the Government has said that everyone should stay at home and avoid non-essential travel. The Angling Trust have advised that fishing is not included in the permitted activities and anglers should refrain from fishing at present. You can read more here: https://www.anglingtrust.net/news.asp?section=29&sectionTitle=Angling+Trust+News&itemid=5240

We could accept a petition to abolish the closed season in general, if this is something you would like to happen.
