Offer a comparable support package for self-employed people during Coronavirus

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

We want to be treated as valued members of society, just as those in employment have been treated
We, the self-employed, will be hit by inevitable tax rises after the Covid-19 pandemic and have been offered little or no support. When compared to the 80% of wages offered to those in employment, universal pay is not enough. We have overheads, rent and bills to pay. We do not see how it is fair that we pay our taxes and support our national economy, only to be left out in the cold in this time of need. We will have no money left to pay taxes after this unless more financial help is offered now

Why it was rejected

The UK Government or Parliament was already taking the action it asked for.

Since this petition was started, the Government has said that most self-employed people can claim a taxable grant worth 80% of their trading profits up to a maximum of £2,500 per month for the next 3 months.
