Purchase British Airways from IAG.
Rejected
14 signatures
What the petition asks
Rather than the Government invest money into a Public Company, controlled from Madrid, which will also includes financial support for Iberia Airlines, Sun Air of Scandinavia, Air Nostrum (Spain regional airline) and Iberia Express.. please buy British Airways from IAG.
Purchase the assets of BA and return it to U.K. public ownership.
Why it was rejected
It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.
The Government has not said that it is going to provide financial support to the IAG. It has been reported that the Chancellor of the Exchequer has written to airlines telling them to find other forms of funding ,and not to turn to the Government for support through this crisis: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-52027342
If you would still like the Government to buy British Airways, you could start a new petition calling for this, provided it does not suggest the Government is otherwise planning to provide financial support to the IAG.
We have published a petition calling on the Government to decline any requests for bailouts from the airline industry, which you might like to sign: Decline any requests for bailouts from the airline industry
