What the petition asks

Provide life insurance cover for each NHS healthcare worker, equal to lifetime NHS earnings, in case they die, during Corona virus pandemic, with diagnosis of Corona +ve.

Healthcare workers need assurance that families and loved ones will get financial stability, if they die, while saving lives

Healthcare workers are putting their own lives at risk, while providing care for patients, suspected and proven cases of Corona virus.

We know that there is not enough PPE equipment to use as Universal precautions, while dealing with all patients. Testing for suspected cases is limited, based on high risk symptoms, travel and contact history. This invariably means healthcare workers are at higher risk than anyone else, even if they follow all recommended measures.

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

NHS staff who are part of the NHS pension scheme are already entitled for their family to receive a payment should they die in service.
