Petition · past parliament
Suspend VAT on all hot takeaway food during the Covid-19 outbreak.
Rejected
17 signatures
What the petition asks
Currently, all hot take away food is subject to VAT at the standard rate (20%). This should be suspended for the duration of the Pub/Restaurant/Cafe shutdown in the UK. This will immediately reduce the price of all take away orders by 20% without impacting the business selling the food.
To help the catering industry during this very challenging period and the general public by reducing the cost of take away food.
Why it was rejected
There was already a petition about this issue. Duplicates are rejected so signatures collect in one place.
