What the petition asks

We ask for all self employed workers to get 80% of earnings like those on PAYE if thier business has been asked to close by the government.

To help us through COVID-19 until we can re open and resume trading.

It’s not right that employed workers get such security when self employed workers don’t.
We work hard, we pay our taxes, our NI and after all this is done we’ll be the ones in a tougher situation trying to build our businesses back up again with comparatively zero behind us.

Why it was rejected

The UK Government or Parliament was already taking the action it asked for.

Since this petition was started, the Government has said that most self-employed people can claim a taxable grant worth 80% of their trading profits up to a maximum of £2,500 per month for the next 3 months.
