Include self-employed in 80% pay during Coronavirus
Rejected

What the petition asks
4.8 million people are registered self-employed in the UK. Figures are of 2017 according to the Office of National Statisticics. It would be easy enough to work out what each person is entitled to based on their tax returns.
The self-employed are the backbone of our country. They should be helped.
The self-employed are the backbone of our country. They should be helped.
The self-employed should also be considered in the relief efforts because the the employed are being taken care of, as are the staff of self-employed.
Businesses are eligible for grants to pay their staff wages, but the owners of those businesses and the sole traders in UK are entitled to only Universal Credit; if their partner is also unemployed.
£94/week for self employed is just not enough to live on.

Why it was rejected
The UK Government or Parliament was already taking the action it asked for.
Since this petition was started, the Government has said that most self-employed people can claim a taxable grant worth 80% of their trading profits up to a maximum of £2,500 per month for the next 3 months.
