Create a Covid 19 Medal for NHS Staff

What the petition asks
HMG issues medals for military campaigns and for acts of heroism and valour. It should do the same for NHS Staff who risk their health to treat patients with Covid 19: Strike a medal and award it to NHS staff.
Covid 19 is being acknowledged as a national, indeed global crisis, on a scale not seen since 1945 and arguably longer. NHS clinical staff in particular will go in harms way to serve and protect others, knowing the risks to themselves and without expectation of thanks. If we are serious about acknowledging their sacrifice we, as a nation, should put it on a par with the heroism and bravery of our armed services. Medalic recognition is one way we could do this.
Why it was rejected
There was already a petition about this issue. Duplicates are rejected so signatures collect in one place.
