Release non-violent prisoners

Rejected 19 signatures

What the petition asks

This petition is to release low-level inmates who are at high risk of contracting COVID-19 and dying.

My sister has a sentence of 2.5years. With positive cases in the prison the inmates are being isolated and visiting will soon be stopped.

PLEASE RELEASE THE NON-VIOLENT PRISONERS ON CURFEW
Jails in California, New York, Ohio, Texas, countries; Spain and Iran are sending low level inmates and non-violence offenders home then why not in the UK ?

The Guardian has estimated that 800 deaths could be seen in UK prisons due to COVID-19 but the government has not once mentioned prisoners and what we will be doing to protect them.

I am concerned for all the elderly, diabetic, asthmatic and all high-risk patients in all prisons as their would be less staff in prisons too.

Why it was rejected

There was already a petition about this issue. Duplicates are rejected so signatures collect in one place.
