Government to freeze Council Tax payments and fund Utility bills

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

Government to cover/freeze council tax payments and to cover/freeze utility bills for all citizens during the COVID-19 pandemic
They are currently freezing mortgage payments. Hundreds of thousands of people are sat at home with minimal pay - it is their duty to help their citizens!

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

Suspending payments for council tax, mortgages, utilities and loans is a matter for individual councils, mortgage providers, utility providers and lenders, and not the UK Government or Parliament.
