Withhold financial support to employers making staff redundant during Covid-19

Closed 40 signatures

What the petition asks

The Government has established the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme to enable employers to keep staff on during the Covid-19 outbreak, but some employers are instead laying off staff or making them redundant, and not taking up the scheme.
The Government should withhold any form of support – including grants, loans, guarantees and reliefs – from businesses that make lay offs or redundancies rather than access the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme . It would be unfair for these companies to receive Government support when they are failing to protect their employees.
