What the petition asks

We want March 26th to be changed to NHS Appreciation Day.
Why? Because the NHS are extraordinary!

On a daily basis, the NHS have to work with so many issues. They are amazing at what they do, they are under appreciated and whoever works for the NHS are absolute heroes! They work tirelessly to provide such an essential service and help the country and its people through tough, health times. COVID-19 has provided an epidemic to make people realise how much we need them. This is why the Government need to take action and provide a day where people can think of the fantastic service they provide

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

We understand that you want the Government to do something to acknowledge the role of the NHS, but it's not clear exactly what you want the Government to do. The Government is not responsible for designating "national days".

We have started a petition calling on the Government to create a new Bank Holiday in recognition of the NHS and all its amazing workers, which you might like to sign: Create a new Bank Holiday in recognition of the NHS and all its amazing workers.
