NHS employees to be eligible for a service medal in combating COVID 19

Rejected 12 signatures

What the petition asks

To consider that employees of the NHS in their role as the front line defence in the fight against COVID 19, to be awarded service medals in recognition of the extraordinary undertakings that they are and will perform during this crisis.
COVID 19 is an event unlike any other the UK has had to face in modern times. The NHS is our army in the front line in saving the lives of those infected. Not only are they being placed in great risk themselves but are having to deal with an unprecedented scenario of extraordinary magnitude. Within the Armed forces medals are given for acts of bravery, valour and gallantry. I believe that staff of the NHS should be considered for comparable medals reflecting their efforts in this crisis.
