Travel companies to issue refunds for those impacted by COVID19/FCO restrictions

Rejected 16 signatures

What the petition asks

I petition the government to investigate travel companies who are not refunding cutomers following FCO restrictions and flight cancellations following Covid 19

The FCO has advised against all but essential travel. Individual countries have further restrictions and flight bans in place.
Travel companies are not responding effectively:

- Flights are not being cancelled until days before departure
- Customers who have had their flights cancelled are not being offered refunds
- Companies are becoming increasingly difficult to contact
- They are not providing rightful information about refunds
- A recent investigation by Which? showed that the change of flight option was charging customers more to rebook

As per the CAA, the customer should be given a refund option in these cases

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

Arrangements for refunding, changing or rebooking travel are a matter for individual airlines and travel agents, not the Government or Parliament.

We have published a petition calling on the Government to create a fund to reimburse money lost due to covid-19 travel cancellations, which you might like to sign: Create a fund to reimburse money lost due to covid-19 travel cancellations
