Stop wedding and events venues from profiteering from the Coronavirus crisis

What the petition asks
Wedding and other events companies and are charging customers to postpone their events when the venue has been forced to close due to the virus. Please stop them profiteering like this.
Venues are making thousands of pounds from people and providing no service. Some wedding venues, for example, are refusing to refund money but are also unable to provide the service promised due to the virus restrictions. They claim because it's not their choice to cancel, customers are entitled to nothing and must rebook/pay again. Alternatively they are offering a different date or event worth less than originally paid for. By doing this they make more profit than they would have otherwise.
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
The arrangements for weddings and other events are civil matters governed by the contracts that have been agreed, and relevant consumer rights laws, and are a not a matter for the Government or Parliament.

You could start a petition calling on the Government to create a fund to reimburse people who have lost money as a result of coronavirus.
