Implementation of a permanent wage rise for all "Key Essential Workers"

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

Throughout the COVID-19 crisis, many workers are carrying on their services because they are essential to society and to basic human needs. It is here proposed that all such workers in these services have their contribution recognised in a meaningful sense.
The vast majority of so called "Key Essential Workers" are among the lowest paid in our society, with many only making the national minimum wage and not a living wage. Without these people working through the crisis we currently face, and putting themselves at daily risk in the process, our country would have ground to a screeching halt. They deserve to be recognised and they deserve support

This needs to change.

If workers are to be considered essential, they should be treated as such.
