Instigate a 2020 Queens Honours & Awards list to recognise our COVID-19 heroes

Rejected 16 signatures

What the petition asks

For the Nation to recognise and celebrate the outstanding professionalism, dedication and commitment of our NHS, other Emergency Services, Armed Forces, Retail Services, Scientists, Engineers, Food Producers and volunteers in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic and keeping the country going.
Instead of the Queens Honours & Awards being used to reward Celebrities, Sportspeople and Politicians, use the 2020 New Years Honour list to reward those people who have been the heroes of the COVID-19 pandemic. The British people should have the opportunity to recognise those individuals who have made a difference and unselfishly helped others, even putting their own lives on the line.

Why it was rejected

It was about honours or appointments, which petitions cannot cover.

We can't accept your petition because it asks for someone to be nominated for an honour.

Members of the public can nominate people for honours directly, although it is not possible to nominate a group or organisation for an honour. You can find out how to nominate someone for an honour here: https://www.gov.uk/honours

We have accepted petitions calling for the Government to award people working in essential occupations medals, which you might like to sign.

If you want the Government to award Covid-19 medals to all emergency services and involved armed forces, you may wish to sign this petition: Award Covid-19 medals to all emergency services and involved armed forces

If you want the Government to create a medal to honour the fortitude of people working in essential occupations, you may wish to sign this petition: A medal to honour the fortitude of people working in essential occupations
