What the petition asks
NHS staff from cleaners, porters, pharmacists, support workers, medics, doctors and nurses have put themselves on the front line risking their health and that of their families. With their support many lives will be saved and national recognition should be "paid" with a one off tax free gift.
NHS staff are working increasingly long hours, facing massive family disruption and putting themselves and their families by proxy at risk of serious illness. Whilst we pay living wages and offer gratitude there is no more gratitude the nation can show than to offer a physical cash tax free reward to show the nations respect and thanks for ever NHS staff members contribution. Many will have sacrificed so much to achieve the common good and we should acknowledge their devotion and care.
Why it was rejected
There was already a petition about this issue. Duplicates are rejected so signatures collect in one place.
The Government is not responsible for setting the salary of most key workers, or setting minimum wages for particular sectors, but you may wish to sign petitions calling for the following actions:
