Allow birthing partners to be with expectant mothers during covid-19 outbreak!

What the petition asks
Due to Covid-19, currently you're only allowed 1 birthing partner from when you are in established labour (4cm onwards) Your partner isn't allowed to be with you before/after birth! Potentially missing the birth!!
Please overturn this rule and allow partners to be there from beginning to end.

Giving birth is such an emotional journey for both parents not just the mum. She needs someone there for her that she can lean on at this scary time. Hosps have advised that it's possible they will stop birthing partners due to the outbreak. This goes against our human rights! Giving birth can be very traumatic & not having someone there will add more pressure on staff and have a serious effect on our mental health. Partners have every right to be present to see the birth of their child!
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
Decisions about whether birth partners are permitted to attend a birth is a matter for individual hospitals and NHS trusts, and not the Government or House of Commons.

The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists has also produced gudiance which states that women should be able to have a birth partner present during labour and birth: https://www.rcog.org.uk/en/guidelines-research-services/guidelines/coronavirus-pregnancy/covid-19-virus-infection-and-pregnancy/#choices
It is an operational decision for individual hospitals and NHS trusts how to implement this guidance.
