To include those who are only self-employed in SEISS scheme (80% income support)

Rejected 12 signatures

What the petition asks

Self-employed people can receive grants under SEISS scheme, however those who started self-employment after 6 April 2019 are excluded. Some have been working all their life and started self-employment within 19-20 tax year and it is their only work. Those are unfairly excluded from receiving support
It is understandable the Government wants to prevent fraud and prevent payments for those for whom self-employment is additional income. However those who moved from permanent employment to self-employment towards end of 18-19 tax year will be excluded due to 50% income from s-e requirement. Same for those who started business in 2019-20. Scheme should include those for whom self-employment is only source of income and who started before 28 February 2020 similarly to employed.

Why it was rejected

There was already a petition about this issue. Duplicates are rejected so signatures collect in one place.

Remove the 50% earnings barrier so all self employed workers to receive support.

Provide COVID19 income support for the newly self-employed, without HMRC records
