Give Covid-19 overseas NHS workers permanent residency
Rejected

What the petition asks
On 31st March Priti Patel announced a Visa extension for overseas NHS workers who meet a certain criteria.
This petition seeks to persuade the UK Government to go further and give overseas NHS workers permanent residency (should they want it). Residency would also apply to their family members.

As part of the national effort to combat coronavirus, NHS employees are working tirelessly to keep the country safe.
The UK will owe overseas NHS workers a massive debt for their sacrifice during this period (akin to the Gurkha regiments in WW2) and I think this change would be a fitting representation of the nations gratitude.
Any changes to NHS visas would be automatic and there should be no fee attached.
