Introduce a salary cap to english football.
Rejected
11 signatures
What the petition asks
To introduce a salary cap preventing english football clubs paying playing staff more than £50k a week.
The current Covid-19 situation has highlighted a massive disparity within the game. Premier League players continue to receive enough each week to cover the costs of several families for a year yet football clubs are asking for the Government to provide financial support for non playing staff and in some cases are letting staff go.
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
The Government is not responsible for setting maximum salaries for particular workers.
You could start a petition calling on the Government to create a new income tax rate for people earning above a certain salary, if that is what you want to happen.
You could also start a petition calling on the Government to only allow businesses to access the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme if all of their staff are furloughed.
