Overturn the £10,000 work from home allowance for MPs during the Covid crisi

What the petition asks

Disallow or reduce substantially this utterly inappropriate payout of public funds when all monies should currently be used to help NHS workers or financially benefit those in great need. MPs that do continue to benefit from this must return any travel expense or 2nd home allowance for this period

When there are unliveable caps on funding for the general public and millions are facing unimaginable hardship spirally debts and job loss that will continue to affect in a detrimental way for years to come, but the people of the UK are standing in solidarity to pull through a crisis it is utterly unthinkable that elected officials working on our behalf should financially benefit exponentially in any way.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for MPs' pay or expenses. The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) is responsible for deciding on MPs' expenses and pay. IPSA is independent of both Parliament and Government.
