What the petition asks
The Covid-19 outbreak has proved once and for all that it is the NHS and service industries that are the backbone of our society, not bankers and billionaires.
As such the minimum wage must immediately be increased to £10 p/h so that everyone in this country receives a living wage.

All public sector workers earning under £30,000p/a should also be given a 10% wage rise to compensate for the decade of wage repression forced upon then through Conservative austerity since 2010.
And a guarantee in law that both of these will continue to rise along with inflation in the future.

Why it was rejected
There was already a petition about this issue. Duplicates are rejected so signatures collect in one place.
The Government is not responsible for setting the salary of most key workers, or setting minimum wages for particular sectors, but you may wish to sign petitions calling for the following actions:
