What the petition asks
Parliament should arrange for the NHS to be awarded the George Cross, on behalf of the people of the UK, to bear witness to the courage and devotion of all NHS staff during the COVID 19 crisis 2019 - 2020. It should be a collective award to all staff, regardless of status or role.
The public support for the NHS is clear from the responses to request for public applause. It would be a popular, and well deserved, award. The precedent is that of the GC awarded to all the people of Malta for their fortitude during the siege of the island in WW2.
Why it was rejected
There was already a petition about this issue. Duplicates are rejected so signatures collect in one place.
