Petition · past parliament

Make the cultivation, production, sale and use of cannabis legal for adults.

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

We are calling on the government to take cannabis out of the illicit market and move it into a legal framework, with regulations on products and purchasing restrictions to those aged 18+.
By moving cannabis into a legal, regulated framework the UK could shrink the illicit market, improve product safety and restrict underage use.

Studies have shown that legalisation could bring in tax revenues of £1 billion per year, which could be invested into public services. An estimated £2.5 billion a year would be taken out of the illicit market and brought into the regular economy.
