Discount on car insurance due to covid19 outbreak

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

To make insurance companies to discount drivers who havent been using there car in this pandemic
I myself am a car driver and i have done alot less milage than normal but still paying the same rate as if i was driving normally. I think if you can prove you are doing less miles than normal a discount should be given back to you

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

Insurance policies are private arrangements between individual insurance companies and policy holders, and are not the responsibility of the Government or Parliament.

The Association of British Insurers has published advice about the impact of coronavirus on different types of insurance, and suggests that if you want to keep your car but won't drive it for a while you should contact your insurance provider to see how they can support you: https://www.abi.org.uk/products-and-issues/topics-and-issues/coronavirus-hub/motor-insurance/
