What the petition asks
Ban the use of paper and fabric "night sky lanterns" "fire lanterns" "Chinese lanterns" and other floating fire lights due to the evidence and extremely high risks of fire and destruction to property, persons, livestock, and danger to wildlife caused by their use.
Sky lanterns are a huge danger to wildlife, public homes farmland and property. Although the release of them are banned on Council owned land and property in *Wales* it's still entirely legal to release paper lanterns in England !!!!!
Over 200,000 sky lanterns are sold and released each year in the UK. Sky lanterns cause injury and suffering to animals and marine life, and livestock and have a devastating impact on the environment and residences and cause an avoidable use of fire services.
