Award the George Medal to Captain Tom Moore
Rejected
21 signatures
What the petition asks
I would ask Parliament, that Captain Tom Moore be awarded the George Medal (or Cross given his military service) in recognition of his fundraising efforts for the NHS during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Captain Moore has shown himself to be an inspiration to the country, something that the level of support and the funds he has raised clearly demonstrates. As was the case during the war, when his country needed him he has done his bit, not letting the ripe old age of 99 stand in his way. It is a way for the country to say thank you, once again for his service to us all.
Why it was rejected
It was about honours or appointments, which petitions cannot cover.
We know lots of people want to petition for Colonel Moore to receive an honour, but the Government will only accept individual nominations, not petitions, so we can’t publish your petition.
