Petition · past parliament

Supply PPE equipment for all face-to-face public transport drivers.

Rejected 17 signatures

What the petition asks

There are 40,000+ bus drivers in Britain, few of whom have industry-supplied PPE.
They have to handle cash (a prime spreader of COVID-19) and are in direct contact with the public in circumstances where it is impossible to implement social distancing. In many cases (on coaches and older buses) there is not even a screen to protect them. If a driver is asymptomatic, they are also at risk of contaminating their passengers. Whilst public transport is still allowed to function, the spread of the disease cannot be contained effectively and the government are putting lives at risk.
