Increase minimum wage for social care staff to £10.72

What the petition asks
Without proper funding of social care and adequate pay for social care staff 120000 vacancies in the sector are unlikely to be filled. The NHS and the British people will continue to bear the brunt of the social care crisis.
Social care requires kindness, tact, tolerance, generosity, compassion and intelligence. It involves highly specialised tasks like hoisting and coping with seizures to administration of medication. Care workers are expected to tolerate aggression, abuse and racism. They are undervalued, underpaid and lack the respect of the general public. The sector and their dedicated staff deserve an increase in government funding and a pay rise for its staff to a minimum hourly wage of £10.72.
