MPS should take a temporary 20% pay cut to support NHS and frontline workers

Rejected 12 signatures

What the petition asks

MPs to take a 20% paycut for the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic. In light of the current healthcare crisis, members of parliament should take a pay cut, much like UK citizens all over the country, in order to help the heroes on the front lines.
Many health care workers are working without adequate PPE due to underfunding of the NHS making them ill-equipped to handle the COVID-19 crisis. Beyond showing appreciation by clapping, government officials should take proper initiative and demonstrate integrity by taking a paycut to demonstrate support and solidarity for frontline workers who are working tirelessly to save lives, the PM’s life being one of them.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
