What the petition asks
For the government to set up nationalised Manufacturing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) within the UK. To ensure the UK is self sufficient in manufacturing PPE for the needs of the NHS and to ensure that there is spare Manufacturing capacity In case of a national emergency.
It has become apparent that in times of a global crisis we can not rely on other countries to manufacture and distribute PPE sufficiently. We have witnessed country’s placing export bans on PPE and keeping it in-house for their own health service. We must be self sufficient, not only to guarantee supply but also ensuring that It meets the required safety standards to protect our NHS staff.
The lessons learned during this crisis must not be allowed to be forgotten.
