Petition · past parliament

Enforce quarantine for people entering the UK during COVID-19 crisis.

Rejected 16 signatures

What the petition asks

Please use empty airport hotels to house people entering the UK via air or sea. People should remain in quarantine for 14 days and test negative for COVID-19 before returning to the community. This should apply to UK citizens and people from other countries.
Australia and New Zealand are islands with sea and air borders only, just like the UK. They enforced quarantine for people entering the country as soon as they brought in lockdown measures. This meant they could focus on limiting community transmission without worrying about the virus continuing to enter the territory. They have had few deaths compared to the UK. As they UK stands at 26,000 deaths, Australia has 90 deaths.
