Ensure that supply teaching staff are treated fairly during the Covid-19 crisis

Rejected 10 signatures

What the petition asks

I would like the government to bring in legislation to make sure that temporary education workers are treated the same as any other agency workers.
The guidelines for schools and colleges are quite clear but some Colleges, Schools and agencies are refusing to adhere to them.
Schools,Colleges and agencies are refusing to furlough temporary teaching staff.
This has left thousands of temporary staff without an income and with no hope of getting an income until at least September.
All I am asking is that schools and colleges treat their temporary staff fairly, they have taken government funding to pay for temporary staff, it should not be up to them to decide if they want to give it to us, if the government guidelines clearly state that they should.
Thank you

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the UK Parliament or Government to take a specific action. We understand that you're concerned about supply teacher's pay, but your petition seems to be asking for action from schools and collages, not the UK Government.

You could start a new petition asking the Government to provide supply teachers with a minimum income when schools are closed due to a public health crisis, if that's what you'd like to happen.
