What the petition asks
We believe the planning inspectorate has no democratic mandate, inspectors know little or nothing about the places they are parachuted into. Yet they are empowered to overturn planning decisions decided by your local elected representatives.
Every time the Planning Inspectorate approves an appeal, a piece of our democracy dies. Ordinary folk see that their opinions are worthless. But not only their opinions, The carefully considered opinions of their elected local representatives are worthless.
The pinnacle of local representation is our Member of Parliament and their opinion is also worthless because they are unable to intervene in planning decisions.
