Bring Rail franchises to an end and bring back a publicly owned railway
Closed

What the petition asks
The railway franchise system as we know it has failed, that was clear in the declining passenger satisfaction ratings and the increasing rail fares, the Department for transport needs to consider withdrawing all franchises and implementing an act like the Transport Act 1947.
The current franchise operators care about profits before passengers. We have seen countless times of short term use trains being in service long after the life span of said trains. It’s time the railway is brought into public ownership for the public not for financial gains.
