Make an eco friendly option for medications

Rejected 10 signatures

What the petition asks

As someone who is on a repeat prescription for life I regularly have to dispose of plastic packaging.

I would like to see a zero waste option for medications, such as eco friendly packaging or a refillable container.
Because the plastic tablet blister packs that many medications come in are not able to be recycled.

In the UK it is estimated that five million tonnes of plastic is used every year, nearly half of which is packaging. We should be reducing this figure where and when possible and plastic medication packaging would help cut this figure down considerably.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise. This is a matter for pharmaceutical manufacturers.

You could starting a petition calling for a ban on the use of disposable packaging for pharamceutical products, if that's something you'd like to see happen.
