Force the Defence Infrastructure Organisation to open up all parts of Ashranges

What the petition asks
Force the DIO through Minister for Defence Procurement to unlock all parts of Ash Ranges including the range floors when military exercises are not taking place.
Byelaws have been in place since 1885 to protect public access to the ranges when firing is NOT happening. In January 2020 the DIO erected new gates and extra fencing so they could enclose part of the ranges named “Ash Range Complex” or “Range Floors”. They then subsequently closed this to the public. This makes accessibility to the open parts of the ranges by local residents difficult.
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
Decisions about access to the defence estate is an operational matter for the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO), and not a political decision for the Government or House of Commons.
Compliance with local byelaws is a matter for the relevant local authority. If you believe the DIO is in breach of local byelaws you should raise this with your local authority.
