Extend Self-Employment Income Support Scheme in line with furloughed workers

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

The government has already acknowledged that furloughed workers will need income support while businesses adjust. Why should the Self-Employed tax-payers be treated any differently?

We want the government to extend the Self-Employment Income Support Scheme in line with furloughed workers.
Self-Employed workers are facing unprecedented challenges. They do not have sick pay, paid leave, or company pension plans. They pay full taxes like all British workers and generate approx. 300 Billion for the British Economy. Without extending the support, many will claim UBC and stop contributing.

Self-Employed workers will need time to adjust their services and businesses to the current realities. Keeping their businesses afloat will be vital to the health and prosperity of local communities
