What the petition asks
Ban or restrict advertising in the media of products containing meat such as beef, pork, poultry and fish in order to reduce the demand for and consumption of meat and animal products. Reducing our meat consumption as a nation will benefit public health and our environment.
A recent UN report has said that lesser consumption of animal products is crucial to save the world from the worst impacts of climate change. Livestock and their byproducts contribute to greenhouse gas emissions and have been associated with risks of disease spreading. Eating meat has been shown to increase risk of heart disease, cancer, strokes and obesity. Reducing our meat consumption as a nation will benefit public health and our environment.
